FROM THE MANAGER’S DESK
“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” This quote from the children’s novella The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry draws a distinction between what we can see and what truly matters. At Sacred Heart High School & Junior College we strive to nurture not just academic excellence but holistic development of students. This entails balanced growth of the mind, body and most importantly the character of a person. Because today’s students are future builders of society. What they learn and experience in school will shape the leaders, workers and community members of tomorrow.
Sacred Heart is an educational institution focussed on ‘Education of the Heart’. We strongly believe that learning should go beyond textbooks, classrooms and examinations. True education must shape the character and form individuals who are principle-centred and committed to making a positive difference in the world. Hence, we embrace diversity and celebrate the uniqueness of each individual. So that every student undergoes a real transformation from the inside out to become future citizens who are committed to an inclusive and sustainable global future.
The purpose of learning at Sacred Heart is to inspire passion and a thirst for knowledge to excel in all dimensions of life. We draw on the positive gifts of our cultural heritage that are anchored in the Sacred Heart of Jesus to communicate God’s deep and personal love for people. Jacques Maritain called it forming the whole person. Hence, we have discussions, service projects and reflection built right into the curriculum. It’s the part of education that helps your head and your hands be guided by your heart.
